February 29, 2008
Vet Reform Programme organised a training course for pedagogical advisors in monitoring the implementation of pilot curricula in vocational schools. The training course was delivered on 28 th to 29 th February 2008. The aim was to teach the advisors how to monitor the implementation and evaluate the results of the pilot curricula but also to give them some guidelines for the development of new monitoring and evaluation models. As the second phase of the VET Reform Programme is coming to an end, it was decided, in agreement with the Ministry of Education, that the results of work with the pilot schools be presented to other schools from the same sectors, which were not involved in the Programme . Along with the presentation of the results, five-day seminars were organised for the directors and teachers of additional 25 schools in order to enable the exchange of experience and to present and help them adopt the best practice.

Specialised equipment was delivered in mechanical engineering schools, tourism and catering schools and wood-processing schools involved in VET Reform Programme. By the end of March, specialised equipment will have been installed in pilot electrical engineering schools. The total value of specialised equipment to be procured for all the three sectors is about 1 million euro. Read more ...

2000 new computers with peripherals were installed in 98 VET schools included in VET Reform Programme, pursuant to the decision of the Ministry of Education. European Union, through the European Agency for Reconstruction, had made available 1.9 million Euros for procurement of modern IT equipment. Read more...

The implementation of the new curricula started in the pilot classes in 22 schools involved in VET Reform Programme. New curricula were developed for eight occupational profiles in three sectors: Wood - Processing, Tourism and Catering, Information Technologies.

A demonstration of a veterinary technician Matura examination (practical part) was given in the secondary agricultural school " Sonja Marinković" in Požarevac on Friday 4th May 2007. The practice lesson teachers from the schools in which the students are going to take Matura examination according to new curricula this year had a chance to get familiar with the procedure. Strategy for the Development of Vocational Education and Training in the Republic of Serbia and Strategy for the Development of Adult Education in the Republic of Serbia were adopted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia at the meeting held on December 28th 2006.

VET Reform Programme, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, participated at the Educational Fair which took place from November 30th till December 2nd in Novi Sad. Pilot schools involved in the first and the second phase of the Programme presented the results of their work. Read more...

Selection of pilot school teachers to participate in the development of new curricula is on-going. Trainings for the new curricula development will start in September, and working group will consist of vocational teachers and professional practice teachers. Each pilot school is invited to nominate up to three teachers per pilot profile they applied for, and the VET Reform Programme has suggested nomination criteria.

The deadline for sending applications for Participation in Team for Pilot Curriculum Development is September 1st 2006.

The first meeting with principals from 21 school selected to participate in the second phase of VET Reform Programme took part in the Secondary School for Tourism in New Belgrade. Read more.

In order to get an overview in international relationships and experiences of new pilot school the questionnaire was developed for schools to fill it and send it back to the Programme until August 31 st 2006. Download Questionnaire.
